BULLYING HAS GOT TO STOP

Over the past week there has been an alarming amount of teen suicides. These children were taunted and teased on a continuous basis because of their supposed or decided sexuality. As a parent this frightens me. We should teach our children to love themselves and others. Some argue that taunts are meant to prepare children for the real world and allows them to "toughen up". It is ignorant to believe that bullying should be part of our culture. When was making another human being, let alone a child, feel ashamed, powerless and alone?

It is okay to be different!

Here is a list of things we can do as parents to protect all children from this act. But it must be iterated that we adults must start acting in a way that exemplifies this love for humanity and each other that should exist. We must stop fighting and arguing at the innocent and put into action the old adage of "treat people how you would like to be treated". We are our children's greatest influence and should start acting as such.

This post is dedicated to the teens who lost their lives this week (Billy Lucas, Asher Brown, Seth Walsh, Tyler Clementi, Raymond Chase and Caleb Nolt) and to the others without a voice.
