1000 MILES, 365 DAYS

It is amazing sometimes how the busy-ness of life knocks you down and interrupts that energy flow that all of us need.  My energy has been sapped.  All night nursing to a teething babe.  Other babes afraid of change and lashing out.  An upcoming move.  Health scares.  Sleep deprivation. Unhealthy eating.  Messy house (well that is obviously perpetual).

Two days ago, from the depths of despair and the encouragement from the voice of my former athletic self, I got a membership to the gym.  Some people prefer running outdoors.  I enjoy both.  But having a physical space that I can call my own, a space where I can focus on the task at hand, is essential for my mental health... And for me the mind and body are closely intertwined.

I am sore. I am tired.  I am unable to move certain muscles I could yesterday.  I am happy.  We budget for this bliss.

So to encourage a dedication to holistic fitness as I call it, I am challenging myself to run 1000 miles in 365 days.

Each run on the treadmill or outside I will post my distance ran and add it to the ongoing tally.

Please follow me on this challenge or join yourself!!!

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MESS?

Several weeks ago, several event happened which prevented me from blogging in this space I oh so adore.  The Biggest Little Babe had her way with milk and our laptop.  The laptop did not survive.  This is the second bout they had, hence second computer.  We have decided to buy a screen and keyboard, rather than invest in the laptop.  For one, the portableness makes it ever so convenient to pick up and inject the mindless searching into any part of your home.  I was becoming distracted and maybe the destruction of this physical extension of me, as it was becoming, needed to happen to shake me up.  Secondly, I figure there will be less expensive accidents with two separate stationery units.

Soo... That being said, we also bought our first home!!! We are quite excited and I have been so wanting to share this experience with my followers and friends now that we can take a step back and embrace it.  Stay tuned for more to come.

On a personal note, I suffered a great loss... Of trust.  The group that I had fallen so in love with, my apothecary circle, had fallen apart during this time as well.  I choose not to rehash the happenings because they are so difficult and sickening for me to comprehend, but the overall feeling of the collapse of the circle left me losing trust on social media.  I never want to stop writing my blog.  It is such a coping mechanism and joy for me.  However, I removed myself essentially from the social network.  I now choose to live more in reality and luckily a great group of women created a safe place for me to be uplifted, gain knowledge and support.

So more is on the way.  Please be patient as I write from my iPhone.

Have a wonderful summer until my next post!!!

BABES WITH BLOGS - HOLLIE FROM IN A LITTLE GREEN HOUSE

Name:

Hollie Whitby

Blog:

In a Little Green House

What you blog about / your blogging content?

My blog is a personal blog about navigating through this wonderful life.  Full of personal stories, inspiration and both the joy and heartbreak we all go through.

How long have you been blogging?

On and off for about 4 years.

Why did you start blogging?

It all started as a way for me to remember the happenings in my life, kind of like a virtual scrapbook.

Has your blog evolved from its beginnings?

I only started this blog in February of this year, and so far it has stayed true to a personal look at the journey of my life.  I would love for it to evolve into a place where other people guest post with their stories and inspiration.

Has opportunity or inspiration presented itself to you through your blogging journey?

I have found so much inspiration through blogging.  I am constantly amazed at all the wonderful women who are so inspiring and so like minded out there in the blogosphere.

How has blogging affected your life?

The number one way it has affected my life is in dealing with our infertility issues.  It is cathartic for my soul to have a place that feels safe to let out all the anger and sadness I feel sometimes.  Also, I have met some wonderful ladies, who have become kindred souls to me.

What challenges or joys do you face with blogging?

Mostly just finding the time to post is my biggest challenge.  I have had a couple of really harsh comments that have really upset me.  I mean you ANONYMOUS!

Do you see your blog continuing to evolve?  If so, how?

I hope it does continue to evolve.  The more my husband and myself get into a holistic lifestyle, the more I would like to share about living that way.  I am also opening a little etsy shop come end of summer with natural bath and body products, and I want to do some giveaways and blog posts about that part of my life.

I know you're a Babe, but why do you think you're a Babe with a Blog?

I feel like if you are true to who you are and blog from your heart, people will find the truth in that.  I say bring in the beauty of life along with not so beautiful parts too.

Which Babes with Blogs do you follow?

Some of my faves are:

The Mess in Messenger
Spirit Soul Earth
Fae Soul
Live Well and Breathe
East 80
Unlaced Heart
Fate Filled Times
