Charlotte's Hallowe'en Costume

It is a Grier tradition for the first born to go as their father for their first Hallowe'en (well Daddy and Grandpa were actually the ones who started it, so we are starting the tradition). Hence, Charlotte went to playgroup dressed as Daddy, bicycle gear, messenger bag, package and all. And although she was the only baby to dress up, we still had a blast.

On October 28th, we headed out for a Haunted Walk of Ottawa learning about some interesting stories about ghosts in and around Ottawa.

Dead or Living Dead?

On October 26th, 2009, we took to the Ottawa streets to participate in our first ever Zombie Walk. We went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to get some makeup and spent over two hours applying the zombification to our faces. I even shaved two spots on Daddy's head where you apparently bit him/attacked him from your sling as you were the first to be infected. The walk began at Beechwood Cemetery entrance. When we arrived there were crowds of bride, ballerina, waitresses, prom queens, and other zombie folk already waiting to invade. We fit right in with the make-up we applied but some people went all out!! There was lots of fake blood, were turkey skewers through faces, holes in heads, and ripped clothes. It was very impressive. After dabbing a bit of corn syrup on your face, we headed down Beechwood, moaning and groaning, walking slowly. Apparently there were at least 750 people who participated. Three of those were John, El and Eabha. They had a blast!!! At King Edward we had to retreat back to the Cemetery as you were getting tired and we had forgotten your lunch (not Brains but baby food).

Daddy, Charlotte, and Great Uncle Bruce sneaking in the Photo

We have been blessed with many things: each other, a beautiful daughter and another on the way, health, love, happiness and a home. We also have the best thing in the world: a supportive network of family and friends. I don't know what I have done that deserves such luck, such people, such happiness. I hope only that I can bring joy and happiness to those who have done the same for me and my family.

Let the Sun Shine on Me

Reading in Her Room

Charlotte has taken to the books in her room. She frequently asks me to take her to the crate full of books. Carefully she picks which ones she would like me to read her and goes from me to the crate, back and forth, putting them in a pile. There are moments when she also picks up her favorite board book - The Little Mermaid - nestles into the crook of my armpit and, engaged, stares at the book as I read. It is so awesome to me what an interest she takes in reading.

Playing in Our Rainboots

We finally decided what we are bringing to Thanksgiving...

These are the photos that everyone was waiting for! Thanks to Sogi, we now can publish these bad boys.

Lost Birthday Photos - Courtesy of Sogi

Due to the fact that I was super busy and distracted during Charlotte's 1st ever birthday, I took only 4 photos! I was so disappointed but my best friend and Charlotte's godmother, Sogi took a whole bunch of the day and our other best friend Miriam.
