VEGGIE DOGS AT THE COTTAGE

We went to visit the cottage for a little veggie dog roast. It was an emotional one for it was the first time being back since saying good-bye to Alley and emotional for tired toddlers who were cold. But it was a good day none-the-less. It was our first real camping experience as a fam.

Pumpkin Fest at the Grier Cottage

On Saturday we got to celebrate our vegan version of turkey day at the Grier Cottage. It was an absolutely beautiful day full of fall colours, love, and deliciousness. The feast that we all worked on will become the official celebration menu for years to come.

Here it is:

Candied Yams
Fresh Beans from Allen's Garden
Killer Cranberry Sauce
Harvest Pie
Vegan Hearty Stuffing

followed by

Death by Chocolatey Loaf with bits of coconut, walnuts, chocolate chips
Massive Applie Pie in an iron skillet
Skulls and Cross Bones Pumpkin Pie

After dinner we sat for some tea and were presented with lovely wedding gifts from our family. A little birdie had told John and El that we were on the last of our glasses, so thanks for the amazing set and Ikea Gift card. We are also loving the Melissa and Doug chessboard which will encourage learning with Charlotte and I guess (hehehe) special time with Allen. Maybe it will bring me around from my mommy brain.

Brian and Norma were so generous. They gifted us with something amazing in addition to beautiful cutting boards that will allow us all to cook together and an organic heritage variety of flour.

We love you all and thanks for spending this occasion with us.

"Come Back Swans"

This was the phrase that Charlotte repeated because Grandma had spoke it. Grandma was concerned about the swans because they hadn't been seen in a bit of time. But they swam ashore and greeted the Griers at the dock.

How does your garden grow?

Living in Montreal this summer has left Allen's garden in disarray. He attempted to find a community garden here. The waiting list is 3 to 5 years long. He made a small attempt to plant beans in the front. However, the maintenance crew chipped them away. When he arrived at the cottage this time, however he was pleasantly surprised. There were about 15 bulbs of garlic (i am just guessing - it looked like a lot) and the beans had flourished. There was also a foot of zucchini back there. It put such an amazing smile on his face.

Ah the H2O!

The cottage water was definitely at its best with the heat wave and we had to jump in and take full advantage. Charlotte was also so brave as to jump into the water. Such a summer babe!
